Those Hangover Blues
January 2, 2019

BankruptcyYes, I caught your attention, but I wasn’t talking about hangovers related to holiday partying.  Rather, I am talking about hangovers caused by holiday overspending.

This is a good time of year to assess your financial situation.  Do you have high credit card debt due to over-indulgent holiday spending?  Do you have other financial considerations in your life that are getting out of hand?  For instance, do you have high medical bills, or are you paying out of pocket for prescriptions?

While the economy is generally doing well, some people are still having a hard time.  Along with our other New Year’s resolutions, now is a good time to assess whether or not a bankruptcy consultation would make sense for you.  Bankruptcies will often allow you to discharge most or all of your unsecured debt.  Even if you are required to make Plan payments in a Chapter13, the payments will be manageable and can be spread over five (5) years.  Moreover, generally speaking, most bankruptcy payments are paid without interest or penalty, so you can estimate when you will be free of unsecured debt.

This is the whole idea behind the bankruptcy “Fresh Start.”

If my firm can assist you with a bankruptcy consultation, please feel free to call, and hopefully you will have a Happy 2019.  Please contact Steven P. Miner, Esquire at (717) 724-9821 or sminer@daleyzucker.com.
